Netizens join clean beach drive: Deccan Chronicle

Kozhikode: The Kozhikode district administration has launched a Facebook initiative to gather people to clean the Kozhikode beach on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The Facebook initiative started by collector N. Prasanth has received a good response from the netizens who have promised to participate in the cleaning drive, either as individuals or as groups.

The cleaning drive at the Beach will start at 7 am on Friday. The public will be lead on the cleaning drive by the district administration staff.

The Kozhikode corporation staff will also join the cleaning campaign.  The collector on his Facebook page had also encouraged people to maintain the cleanliness of the beach by not throwing plastic bottles and wrappers.

“It would be better not to ponder over the issue of lack of cleanliness at the Beach by sitting at home but think about it after taking part in the cleaning drive on Friday,” Mr Prasanth wrote on his Facebook wall.

More than 6,000 people have liked his post on the subject and majority of them are expected to take part in the cleaning drive.
