Kaushal Kendra for skill devpt opens: The Times Of India

 
KOZHIKODE: The state government will soon implement the placement-linked employment programme that would give 50,000 job opportunities in a year, said labour minister Shibu Baby John. He was speaking after inaugurating a skill development centre, Kaushal Kendra,here on Tuesday. He said this project would ensure employment to the candidates.

"The practice of parents deciding what the students should learn must end. The assessment and career guidance cell at the Kendra will help the candidates to find out the right job," the minister said.

Kaushal Kendra is the second community skill park in Kerala. It is set up as part of renovation activities of the pubic library. The Kendra aims to equipping the youth to meet the challenges of international market. The centre is set up under the Kerala academy of skills excellence spending Rs one crore.

There will be short-term courses in the centre to enable the youth to take up new-generation jobs. Kaushal Kendras will be set up in Palakkad and Kannur soon.

Minister for panchayat and social justice M K Muneer, writer M T Vasudevan Nair, mayor A K Premajam, district collector N Prasanth, ADM T Jenil Kumar, Calicut development authority chairman N C Aboobacker and novelist P Valsala also attended.
